On October 1, 2024, the "Shaoguan" and "Danxiashan" high-speed trains began operations, marking a new chapter in two-way travel between Hong Kong, the "Pearl of the Orient," and Shaoguan, a renowned city in Lingnan. This launch will further strengthen cultural and tourism exchanges between Hong Kong and Shaoguan, attracting more international visitors to Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark.
The "Danxiashan" train (G6102) runs a round-trip service between Guangzhou South and Changsha South, and also connects Hong Kong's West Kowloon with multiple destinations, including Guangzhou South, Shenzhen North, and Futian. The "Shaoguan" train (G6004/G6005) passes through several key cities, including Chaozhou, Shanwei, Huizhou, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Shaoguan, and Changsha.
Both trains feature interior and exterior designs inspired by Danxiashan, offering travelers a unique "fast travel, slow tourism" experience. Passengers can enjoy scenic views of Danxiashan’s stunning landscapes and the rich cultural and ecological heritage of Shaoguan from the comfort of their seats. These two themed trains, packed with elements of Shaoguan's cultural and tourism appeal, will quickly transport travelers from across the region to Shaoguan Station, within a 3-hour high-speed rail network, allowing them to fully explore the beauty of Shaoguan's all-encompassing tourism landscape.
