Danxiashan UGGp and Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp Work Together Toward a New Chapter of Sister Park

  Danxiashan UGGp and Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp signed sistering agreement in the morning of July 2. Chen Fang, deputy director of Danxiashan Administrative Committee, and Xu Fei, director of Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp Administrative Center, signed the agreement as representatives of both sides, with personnel of both sides witnessing the signing ceremony.

  The two sides have cooperated for many times. In 2023 and 2024, we jointly held the APGN Week and Friendship Sister Park Exhibition and Interaction, and jointly supported the spider research team of Shaoguan University to carry out spider resource survey in the two parks. With the course opening from Danxia Airport to Chengdu, the transportation between the two parks will be more convenient and the communication will be more frequent. After signing ceremony, Li Nijia, a young manager of Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp, will learn and practice in Danxiashan UGGp in this summer, participate in the evaluation work of Danxiashan UGGp, and have a deep understanding of the establishment of Danxiashan Science Popularization Community, the construction of science popularization volunteer team and the work of sustainable development.

  Xu Fei said that 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Global Geopark Network. Danxiashan, as one of the first global geoparks, has a lot of work in the lead, which is worth learning from. After the establishment of sister park, we will further carry out substantive cooperation to jointly explore the innovative practices of geopark protection and management, planning and construction, scientific research and popular science and nature education, so as to jointly promote the sustainable development of UGGp with the concept of "Celebrating Earth Heritage, Sustaining Local Communities". The two sides discussed cooperation intentions in jointly holding international photography exhibitions, jointly supporting scientific research projects and promoting community interaction and exchanges between the two parks, and jointly building a new chapter of sister park and contributing to the construction of GGN.

  Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UGGp became a member of UNESCO Global Geopark Network on April 17, 2018. Located in the north of Bazhong City and the southern foot of Micang Mountain, covering an area of 1818 square kilometers. It is known for a complete typical Yangtze plot and its cover stratigraphic section, karst landscape and paleontological fossil landscape. It is composed of seven geological areas, namely Guangwu Mountain, Micang Mountain, Eighteen Moon-like Ponds, Shenmen, Nuoshui Fairyland of Karst Caves, Linjiang Valley and Kongshan Sky Basin.
