In March 2023, Danxiashan UGGp held an interesting science popularization event entitled "Danxiashan Field Study Trip for Disabled Children". Over 300 special children and their parents participated in the event, which allowed them to experience nature in different ways and enjoy the natural surroundings during their visit to Danxiashan.

This event was jointly organized by the Danxiashan Administrative Committee and Shaoguan Disabled Rehabilitation Center. Shaoguan Danxia Science Popularization and Filed Study Center has organized four special children's fun nature education programs, each with its own theme: "Thank You, Little Ears," "Embrace Nature, Embrace 'Broken-winged' Angels," "Embrace Lovely Down Syndrome Children," and "Guardian of the Stars, Embrace 'Lonely' Children with Love," based on the different physical conditions of special children. The aim of the programs is to provide special children with the opportunity to experience nature, enhance their perception of nature, improve their social adaptation skills, and raise awareness and care for special children in society.

Shaoguan Danxia Science Popularization and Field Study Center has designed distinctive nature education programs based on the needs of special children. For hearing-impaired children, they have organized a "Plant Colors" activity to allow them to experience the colorful nature through vivid colors. For children with cerebral palsy, they have set up a natural object collage activity to help them feel the rich and diverse nature and stimulate their interest in it. For children with Down syndrome, a "Moss Ecology Bottle" making activity has been organized, which combines the life phenomena of spring moss to let children feel the vibrant vitality of nature. For children with autism, they have organized a "Plant Printing" activity for parent-child interaction. Through the process of recognizing plants and making handicrafts, they can experience the extension of natural life.

"The course content is both entertaining and informative, allowing children to fully immerse themselves in the joyful experience of nature education. It increases their understanding of nature and enhances their hands-on skills. The programs also broaden their horizons and facilitate emotional communication between special groups, making special children and their families feel the love and care of society, and helping them to grow.

Ms. Deng, a teacher in the hearing-impaired department, said, "The children really need opportunities for outdoor activities. Seeing them running and playing in nature, and seeing their happy expressions, brings tears to my eyes."

Parents also expressed that such activities provide children with more opportunities to interact with society and nature. The programs broaden their horizons and improve communication between parents and children, while also inspiring their pro-environmental behavior.

In the future, Danxiashan Administrative Committee will continue to focus on the needs of disabled children and students and develop more relevant courses. At the same time, we hope that more research and educational institutions can prioritize disabled children and students, providing them with more opportunities for research and education. We aspire to provide more opportunities for special children and students to explore the outdoors, which can assist them in their growth.
