Summit Ecosystem
The landform characteristics of Danxiashan feature flat mountain tops and steep cliffs. The steep cliffs have little to no water or soil, making it difficult for plants to survive, resulting in the isolation of plant communities between the mountain tops and the foothills. This isolation is particularly pronounced on the eastern side of Danxiashan, where the terrain is more varied, leading to more complete separation of plant communities on the mountain tops and at the base. However, the plant communities on different mountain tops vary. Some mountain tops are dominated by Masson pine communities, while others are dominated by wild persimmon forests, black oak forests, or longan forests, among others. These plant communities on the mountain tops hold significant importance for ecological and biological research.
